I’ve built event directories for Koelnmesse for a few years now, and I really enjoy the data-handling aspect of these projects.

I typically begin with a set of several hundred records, along with a fairly large collection of logos and ads, and then compile the information into a directory that organizes the data in various ways.

…as well as a more complex index that included logos, optional highlighting, and greater detail for each exhibitor. Advertisements were placed throughout, according to fit or by special request.

Many exhibitors also provided categories for the products they offer, and I created an index that sorted by this as well. A few also featured their logos for this index.

The directory included an additional index for ads within it.
